Measuring Devices
Alameda County has over 29,500 commercial measuring devices: devices used in establishing the quantity or measurement of quantities in computing any basic charge or payment for services rendered on the basis of measure. Each device is tested for accuracy and specifications and to determine if it is appropriate for its intended use. If it passes these requirements the inspector "seals" the device by placing a paper seal on it, and a lead wire security seal on the adjusting mechanism. Measuring devices include gasoline meters, propane meters, taxi meters, and utility sub-meters (non-utility company electric, water, natural gas meters).
If you think a device is not correct, contact the office of the Consumer Concerns/Complaints.
